Whole Home Tile Package in a Chappelle New Build
This Chappelle new build was one of the larger tile packages we delivered that quarter: a ledgestone fireplace, an ensuite with a 13 by 13 shower and jacuzzi surround, a main bathroom with a tub and vanity tile, plus 13 by 13 floor tile through the entire main level. Each surface had a different material specification and a different setting material, which is the right way to think about a multi-room tile install. The Tile Experts coordinated the build with the general contractor so floors, walls, and the fireplace went in at the correct points in the construction sequence.
The Ledgestone Fireplace: A Different Tile, A Different Mortar
The fireplace surround uses a ledgestone product, which is a stacked natural stone face. Ledgestone is heavier per square foot than porcelain, and the individual stones have irregular backs that need a thicker, higher coverage bond coat. We set this material in ProLite LFT Mortar, a large format and heavy tile mortar engineered for stone. Purpose: high non-sag performance for vertical heavy stone. Properties: lightweight aggregate that lets a thicker bond line cure without slumping. Relationship: ProLite LFT is the right product for natural stone over a fireplace substrate where the assembly sees thermal cycling and weight load that a standard thinset is not rated for.
The Ensuite Shower and Jacuzzi: A 3 by 6 Double Insert on 13 by 13 Field
The ensuite shower and jacuzzi surround share a 13 by 13 field tile in a straight lay pattern with a 3 by 6 double-row insert as the accent. The 13 by 13 size is unusual in 2026 (12 by 12 and 12 by 24 dominate the current spec sheets), but the slightly larger module gives the shower walls a calmer, less repetitive read at standard ceiling heights. Both the field and the insert were set with VersaBond Mortar. We grouted the showers and jacuzzi surround with Mapei FlexColor Grout, a urethane grout that handles wet area exposure and cleans easily.
Main Bathroom Vanity and Tub Surround: 3 by 6 Subway Continuous
The main bathroom uses a 3 by 6 subway tile in a straight lay pattern that runs from the vanity backsplash up the wall and continues into the tub surround as one continuous band. Carrying the tile across both surfaces (rather than stopping at the tub face) is a quiet but high impact design move. Setting material: ReliaBond Tile Adhesive on the vanity (a dry interior vertical surface where mastic is the right call) and VersaBond Mortar on the tub surround (a wet area where thin-set is required). Grouted in Mapei FlexColor Grout for color and stain consistency across both zones.

Main Floor 13 by 13: One Field Across the Whole House
The entire main floor is a 13 by 13 porcelain in a straight lay pattern set with VersaBond Mortar. Running a single floor field across the entry, kitchen, dining, and great room (without transition strips at every doorway) gives the home a continuous floor plane that visually expands the space. The floors were grouted in Prism Grout for a stain resistant, color consistent finish. The same 13 by 13 also appears under the fireplace surround, which threads the field tile into the focal wall and grounds the ledgestone visually.
Chappelle New Build Tile FAQ
How long does a full home tile package take in Chappelle?
For a build of this scope (fireplace, full main floor, ensuite shower and jacuzzi, main bathroom tub surround and vanity), plan on 14 to 21 working days depending on cure windows and the rest of the trade schedule.
Can the same tile run from a fireplace to the floor without looking off?
Yes, and it usually reads as a higher-end design. The trick is the layout: cut sizes need to fall symmetrically, and the grout joint sizes need to match between the wall and floor application.
Is natural ledgestone harder to install than a manufactured stone panel?
Yes, modestly. Ledgestone needs a heavier mortar, a slower install pace per square foot, and careful selection of individual stones to balance color and width. The result reads as more authentic than a panelised product.
